Day 93 – meh, call it 100

Yeah, so… my efforts last week to plug back in took the last of the stuffing out of me. I’m now faced with the reality I have to let go of even the last few threads of things I was holding on to. Including this 100 day project.

Day 82 – still stuck, small successes

Wow, less than three weeks left on my  100 day project! The tail end of it kinda snuck up on me, around the 50 mark I felt totally done with the cursed thing, so amazing to come up for air and discover I’m in the home stretch now.

Been looking back to the beginning and what started it all, figure I’ve got enough days done to use as a stick to measure how far I’ve come. It seems a short distance. I’m still stuck, though less uptight about it. Continue reading »

Day 62 – books vs movies

Even though I haven’t actually had the brain to write much fiction this week, I’ve been thinking a lot about the writing process. And after watching two very excellent and entirely different movies this week: Serenity at Geek Movie Night, and later the beautiful and thought provoking Dancing at the Blue Iguana, I’ve been thinking a lot about the different way we can tell stories. Day 49 – first date? last date.

It occurred to me while watching very bad movie: good dialog has a natural flow to it. Bad writing just uses dialog to further your plot points (very naughty to try and play God!). So I decided to take advantage of being on the streets downtown today to eavesdrop on some conversations to see what a natural one actually sounds like. Continue reading »
