Regarding this photo and your insights about recent photos that you write about in Wayside wandering - even when you are facing the camera, you aren't quite looking at the camera! If I saw that face I'm not sure I'd stick around long enough to take the photo. Brave photographer that day.

And a side note to Mr. Topher: Sometimes it's the seedy restaurants that you find the best food... but again, sometimes it's where you find the worse - gotta risk it sometimes to find out.

There's no subtlety in that expression Christopher, it is utter vexation. I highly recommend learning to recognize that expression in women, it would be a crucial survival skill.

And the seedy diner was all part of a quest for the perfect piece of pie.

Sorry about getting you fixated on punctuation. Read "Eats, Shoots & Leaves" sometime and you too will spend waaaay too much time thinking about appropriate use of the semi-colon.

Funny thing, the cinderblock wall wasn't what caused me to pause. What's with the expression on your face? Being a guy I don't have the ability to interpret the subtlety here.
Ok, now back to the cinderblock wall. What are you doing in a rather seedy diner in northern Ontario (other than traveling back to southern Alberta). <--- OK, now I'm starting to question the whole punctuation-and-period at-the-end-of-a-sentence thing too.
